Daniel Kobert (born Daniil Kobizskiy, 1998) is a Russian-born art and documentary photographer who grew up in Moscow, where he received his BFA. In 2022, he relocated to Paris to further his studies at Spéos International Photography School. His graduation project, titled ".raw," won the school's award for Best Documentary Project. In 2023, Daniel was recognized as the "Special Photographer of the Year" by the IPA Photo Award and exhibited his work in Pingyao, China, at the International Photography Festival, featuring his small series "Cave."
Daniel's artistic practice explores the blurred boundaries between reality and perception, often using abstraction and distortion to evoke psychological tension. His work captures fleeting, ambiguous moments where subjects dissolve into light and shadow, creating a dreamlike sense of disorientation. By embracing motion blur and visual fragmentation, Daniel invites viewers to step beyond the literal into a world shaped by emotional resonance and subjective experience. His images compel audiences to question the stability of their own perceptions, engaging them on a subconscious, introspective level.
Currently based in Paris, Daniel continues to experiment with new methods in digital photography, refining his unique artistic language. He is drawn to the idea of transforming the mundane into the surreal, constructing visual narratives that challenge conventional notions of clarity and focus.
